Prince
Prince has worn the hat of singer, songwriter, musician and actor all successfully. Amazingly he was born Prince Rogers Nelson in 1958 and has produced ten platinum albums and thirty top 40 singles during his career.
The first year he was eligible, Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He has won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. Not just lauded for his vocals his guitar work is sublime and it is reported he can play up to 50 instruments well.
He has written hit for many artists including Sinead O’Connor, The Bangles and Chaka Khan and promoted the careers of Vanity 6, Carmen Electra, Sheila E and The Time. Considering this, I think he might be one of the most popular artists for work represented on websites for music downloads.
Prince’s music is heavily influenced by R&B, funk, soul, blues, folk, New Wave, jazz and hip hop. He was raised on a steady diet of Parliament-Funkadelic, Miles Davis, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, and Sly & the Family Stone.
Prince was the pioneer of what became known as the Minneapolis Sound which was a fusion of rock, pop, funk, R&B and New Wave. He influenced a generation of musicians that melted these genres into one.
My Favorite Prince albums are Purple Rain, Sign o’ the Times, Controversy, 1999 and The Gold Experience. My favorite tracks are Little Red Corvette, 1999, Raspberry Beret, Purple Rain, When You Were Mine, Let’s Go Crazy, and Get Off.
Prince is definitely going to be a music legend for all history! I often wonder what some songs that he wrote for other artists would sound like if he sung them… like Nothing Compares 2 U.. since Sinead has stated she has no personal connection to it, I think it might’ve been better by him!

Prince is the ultimate artist in my opinion. He is so talented. Unfortunetly I have never been able to see him in concert. The ultimate would be to meet him in person. What a rush that would be. I would probably be so nervous I would’nt be able to talk at all. Even my husband knows that if I had the chance to talk to Prince…he better step aside and let me through!!! It’s been a life time wish!
